065: Making Payments to HHS

Purpose: To provide a step-by-step guide to repay the government for travel expenses.

Audience:Federal Travelers (FT) and Federal Agency Travel Administrators (FATA)

Negative Balance

The FATA confirms a negative balance on the Travel Document.

Step 01

Notify Traveler

The FATA notifies the Traveler that their account is negative and must be repaid. The Traveler acknowledges the amount owed and makes plans for repayment.

Step 02

Payment Option One: Mail Payment

The Traveler can mail a check made payable to “U.S. Department of Health and Human Services” and send the check to the following address:

Payment Option Two: Online Payment

The Traveler can make the payment online at:
Click the "Make A Payment" button.

Step 4b: Search for Form

Select the correct payment form by searching for the “HHS Debt Collection” form (option 2).

Step 4c: Go to Form

Select “Continue to the Form” to complete the payment processing.

Step 4d: Fill Out Form

Select “Continue to the Form”. Complete all four steps to complete the payment process. Once completed, the payment will be processed.
