Business Technology Optimization
The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Support has been tasked with supporting the Department of Health and Human Services' efforts relating to the President's Management Agenda (PMA). A major element of the Program Support Center's mission is to reduce administrative expenses through consolidation and to redirect the dollar savings into programs. It is clear that the optimization of business processes and technology is critical to the PSC being successful in carrying out its ever increasing responsibilities. The primary focus of the Office of Business Technology Optimization is to assist the PSC maximize its return on IT investments by ensuring new technology and process solutions are supportive of its strategic business goals. The Acting Director of PSC's Office of Business Technology Optimization, Jack Stoute, has the PSC and/or Department-wide lead on the following major projects: - E-Gov Travel - rolling-out a standard online travel system for the Department that includes voucher creation, authorizations, and booking
- EWITS (Electronic Workflow Information Tracking System) - streamline HR life-cycle processes by automating the flow of work from recruitment to employee/labor relations (e.g., new hire paperwork to personnel actions and approvals)
- ONE-DHHS Contact Center (1-888-ONE-DHHS): One-Stop helpdesk support for key programs (currently Grants.Gov and E-Gov Travel)
- Business Gateway: provide single source of Federal rules, regulations, and associated forms for small business concerns online
- Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) lead in implementing the new Department-wide solution for the PSC.
- Developing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for PSC - tailoring business processes and IT to better manage the full customer relationship lifecycle from marketing to service.
- HHS Consolidated Acquisition System (HCAS): provide single system for acquisitions to meet the needs of all HHS procurement offices.
In addition, The BTO Security Team provides certification and accreditation support for all PSC applications and HHS entity-wide applications. This includes security reviews of internal and externally hosted applications and technical support, and IT Security Training, to assist with implementing technologies that improve the security of the applications. The Team develops IT security policy and provides technical support for PSC and the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS), E-Gov Travel, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) Support, among others. |
